Project: Design and construction of an annual temporary exhibit for stingrays
Design Features
- Create a temporary exhibit for cownose rays and southern stingrays
- Incorporate an interactive, hands-on experience in the exhibit for Zoo visitors
Challenges
- Design and construct the exhibit within a very short timeframe
Key Achievements
- Designed four new provisional tent structures to cover the existing concrete pool and new wood platform for the souvenir shop
- Created a new podium around the existing pool to allow for interactive activities between the public and the stingrays, such as feeding and petting
- Constructed a new temporary decorative barrier between the queuing line and the merchandise area
- Added new permanent plumbing and electrical services designed and erected for the annual return visit of the stingrays, from May until September
