4/27/2009 – Earth Week Sustainability Expo

Tom Kapusta was a featured speaker at the Earth Week Sustainability Expo at Kankakee Community College on April 21st.

Tom presented a range of TKA’s most successful Sustainable Design projects in Commercial Interior Design, Industrial Design, Residential Design, Exhibitry Design, and Public Buildings. Tom’s slide presentation focused on the techniques and process for designing, building and commissioning a LEED Platinum Corporate Interior Design project.

Other speakers included Tim Wilhelm, a KCC instructor, who offered an overview of Renewable Energy sources such as solar power, geo-thermal, and wind; and, Pete Schiel,
Assistant Superintendent Utility Operations for the City of Kankakee, who presented the sustainable design solutions in their two most recent LEED Certified building renovation projects including the City Administration and City Public Works buildings. 

The Expo was attended by community leaders in business, education, and government, as well as students and residents -- all who are collaborating to find ways to improve the lives of people, sustain the planet, and run businesses more profitably. The event concluded with a viewing of the documentary film, “Who Killed the Electric Car?”
